Economic Eli

Today Eli asked for a dollar. Well, specifically he asked for “‘da dollar wif’s ‘dat one on ‘dere.”
I pulled a dollar out of my purse and handed it to him. I watched as he curiously turned it over and over. He carefully spread the dollar onto his lap and unfolded the crinkled edges.
“I like ‘muh dollar.”
“It certainly is fun to get a dollar isn’t it? It is even more rewarding to earn a dollar. When you work hard, you get to earn dollars. Then you can exchange your dollars for things that you need and want. You even get to bless others with your dollars.”
“Uh-huh. I likes ‘da sparkled pyramid and ‘dat bird.”
“Oh. Well. Yeah. That’s super cool too.”
That’s my boy

I thought that his business admin-ing Grancie would approve.
Hilarious! Mine hands me things, or points to things and says “buy this” still working on explaining you can’t buy everything.
He was quite upset that he didn’t get a car that he saw on the shelf the other day…we’re working on that.
So dear. Alice is saving pennies for a trip to South Africa. It might come a little sooner if I used paper money.
Aww! how sweet! Yes, well Eli won’t get too far with his 1 dollar, but it’s a start.

I love all the words he knows! Pyramid! Good word! And yes the economics lesson was good too…….
He loves a good pyramid.
He is really drawn to shapes and wants to know each name. His very favorite is a pentagon.
