Saturday Mornings and Rainy Footprints

I love Saturday mornings.

Eli doesn’t sleep in on Saturdays. Between 5:45 and 6:15, I get to wake up to sloppy kisses and baby breath. Sometimes there is a gentle wake-up song and rubbing of my hair. Sometimes there is a yell, “Watch out!” as he pounces on me.

I roll out of bed and stumble to the caffeine as Eli bounces about and gives me his list of must-do activities. This morning was especially creative and especially specific.

“I builds a house. I climbs a mountain. I jumps ‘da mountain. What ‘dat? ‘Wisten to your ears, Mama! ‘Dat rain. I’s dance a song!”

I hold up a stop sign hand, “Let’s watch one cartoon while I wake up. Deal?”

Eli thinks carefully, “Well…I’s builds a house. I’s see Bot, Gio, Milli [translation: Team Umi Zoomi]. Mama, Mama, Mama….WAKE UP!!”

Even though the blanket thrown over a couple of chairs and the couch is declared a tunnel and not a house, he Β goes with it.

A bit of snuggling, some playing and a lot of caffeine later, Eli decides that he wanted to “open ‘da door” and to “say ‘dood mownin’ to ‘da rain.”

Saturday morning and a warm summer rain, now that is perfection.

We dance in the rain.

We giggle. We splash.

We are shivering and satisfied.

I love Saturday mornings.

trying to bring the umbrella into the house

still working on squeezing the umbrella into the house…

  1. What a sweet Saturday morning memory! I love that you’re the kind of mama who takes her little one out to play in the rain. πŸ™‚

It was wonderful πŸ™‚ Doing silly things like playing in the rain make for some great memories. It can’t be done all of the time, but when it can..why not? πŸ™‚

Hi there, I nominated you for the Very Inspirational Blog Award. I think it’s a way to get exposure and circulation. If you wanna play, you choose 15 inspiring bloggers and link to them from your blog and say why you are nominating them. Then put in 7things that most people don’t know about you. You can look at mine if you need a format type thing, although I just winged it. Good Luck!

  6. I have nominated you for the “Tell Me About Yourself” Award. Please see your nomination here: http://futureflyingsaucers.wordpress.com/2012/06/18/another-award/

He is quite the early bird. πŸ™‚ I am very glad for those favorite cartoons on our DVR. They allow the caffeine to settle in before I have to be too awake. πŸ™‚
