“I no night-night”: A Monologue by Eli
19June 23, 2012 by CassieCravings
Eli is a delightful, creative and stubborn 2 year-old. Nap time tends to bubble all 3 of these qualities over. Today when I announced nap time, he replied with, “No t’anks.”
While I was quite impressed with his manners, it was still nap time.
He settled down quietly at first, but soon I heard quite the performance in protest of nap time.
Moments like these I am convinced that my child will either be a senator or a method actor. Either way, he will certainly be captain of his debate team.

Eventually my little one talked himself to sleep. He did “night-night”, and we all had a much more pleasant afternoon for it.
Are you telling me that he stayed in his room during all of this? Wowzer! You are lucky CJ & I would have played the back to your bed 100 times!
He did stay in his room (well, it was my room), but he stayed there.
I’m really lucky that he will stay put when he’s told to do so. I’m not sure how I got that lucky, but I will take it. LOL
I actually laughed out loud when I read this. Xx
I was giggling as he was going through it. He is such a character! π
Love this, Eli and my grandaughter are so close in age and doing so many ofthe same thing!
Lately Jovie has been throwing the ball of their Aussie, saying” comere Mick, comere!”
Then ” drooooooop it, droooooop it!” (throw) “get it…..again”
So cute…this daughter currently at 35 wks bed rest, just started blogging, princess and the sweet pea….very cathartic for someone confined to her bed!
I love the name Jovie! That is beautiful!
I adore how Eli is turning into such a conversationalist. He certainly keeps me on my toes. π
Latin for jovial…and she is! Remember the movie Elf?
The girl, was Jovie…they were watching it and said, that’s it, that will be her name!
Oh yeah!! I remember that now! I am in love with it! What a beautiful meaning as well!
I just found your site and read your latest post. Your sweet boy already has a way with words ;). It is a good thing that you blog because these are the things that I wished I would have written down when my son was little! :). You might like our story at:

I love your blog! I’m already following and find it delightful π
I need to write more down. I try to fb a “quote of the day” for Eli, but he needs his own EliPedia. π
I love the picture!!!
Thank you! Every now and then he will be still enough for me to get one. Lol π
Thanks for sharing that transcript. It only gets better from here.
I always love listening in on my niece when she plays alone; now that she’s 4 she comes up with incredibly elaborate backgrounds for all her little toys and their interactions amaze me.
I can only imagine what his dialogues will be like by 4! It has been so much fun to watch his language develop! π
It is certainly amazing how quickly they pick up on language.
I’ll look forward to updates on Eli’s progress. π
Thank you! π
Love love love this. Good boy, Eli. And t’ank you, Mama for sharing…
Thank you so much!
I’m really lucky mama to get to parent this kid π
Absolutely. π
