A Quiet Magic Moment

enjoying some wonderful company

There are those quiet, magic moments.

The moment where he crawls into my lap. He sighs quietly and wraps his arms around my neck. There is no noise. There is no conversation. We simply sit.

I bury my face in his curls. I love the smell of his lavender shampoo. As I breathe in, the hurries of today melt away. All that consumes me is this quiet, magic moment.

He reaches down to hold my hand. I study each dimpled finger. I kiss his baby palm. Quietly he smiles at the tickling kiss.

Neither of us hurry. We both drink in the moment.

I wonder if he will remember these moments. I close my eyes to etch this moment into my own memory.

All too soon, he begins to wiggle away. He is ready to play. He is ready to explore.

And I am left sitting alone with the lingering scent of that lavender shampoo and the warmth of his departing kiss on my cheek.
