The Formal Introduction of Felix Mark
6April 7, 2017 by CassieCravings
Introducing my 2nd born has not gone as planned. In fact, even though we had tried to add to our family for years before his birth, he himself was not exactly planned. Nor could we have predicted the circumstances of his birth and the near-tragedy after his birth. This baby boy already has a story to tell. So, it is only fitting that I finally formally introduce my son: Felix Mark.
I was sure our 2nd child would come to our family through adoption.
My family is called to adopt. We will adopt. Because of that calling and an infertility diagnosis, I was sure that our 2nd child would come to our family through adoption. There was no arguing with me. I just knew it. Imagine my surprise of a positive pregnancy test after 4 years of wanting to expand our family!
I am so honored to have carried another biological child. Felix is absolutely miraculous, even in his very existence. He defies the odds, and I am sure that he will continue to do so.
He was born during the busiest time of the year.
Felix’s due date was Christmas Eve 2016 (how fitting for our little surprise). Schedules were overbooked. I was oversized. The entire scenario was quite overwhelming. Like the good little planner I am, there were many to-dos and how to lists made as to how we would introduce Felix during such an intense season of the year. Blog posts were written and only awaiting my Pinterest worthy pictures that would be taken with a brand new camera.
Again, I was sure of how things would go. And yet nothing went as planned. He arrived into this world in the early hours of 12 Decemeber 2016, smack in the middle of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Soon we went home to begin our lives as a family of four. We had no idea what was just around the corner.
I had a stroke 2 weeks after he was born.
Just a couple of weeks after Felix was born, I had a stroke. Apparently I have a rare blood disorder and a rare clot in my brain. I have spent much of Felix’s 3 months on this earth in a hospital.
While this has not gone as planned, Felix showed up just in time. While the start to his life also began our family’s biggest challenge, he is one our greatest joys.
Finally. 3 months after his birth, I am so proud to formally introduce this little boy to you. Felix Mark. He is a joyful, active, and miraculous baby. It is so good to be his mama.
